I’m testing a GeoCMS WordPress plug-in that hopefully will allow posts to be linked to a Google Map.

In the end, I’m hoping to use this thing to combine the following technologies to create a visual site map for a trail/hiking/paddling journal:

-Iphone image file GPS data
-WordPress Administration Application for the Iphone
-Google Maps

I’m a hopelessly visual guy. To me, picture is worth a million words. I want to navigate a blog using a map…a real map, not a text ‘map’.

Each element exists, but the question is can I link them together. Not likely.

BTW: Please ignore the “Show on map” link below. It’s useless right now.

I found a Google Map with USGS overlays. If I can only find a way to overlay the NOAA charts with a fancy button on this map. Been trying to break through the code, I’ve tried a tutorial or two, but I am lost. Oh well…at least they work.

Finally, NOAA charts and Google Maps get together and have a baby!

The nice fellows at Geogarage have created something I’ve been looking for off and on for YEARS: the combination of Google Maps’ easy, intuitive awesomeness and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) navigation charts.

I hope my hack works a while. I can’t figure out where the chart images are.

I google searched my name for images entitled “Geoffrey Hunt”. I was awarded the image on the left, some famous nautical artist guy named Geoffrey Hunt. I then decided, because I am a shite artist, that I would trace vectors over top of his face to steal his creativity. The guy on the bottom is me, Geoffrey Hunt posing as the nautical artist Geoffrey Hunt.
